  12. INSTALLATION:
  13.  
  14. You do not need to install this program on your hard drive to run
  15. it--it runs directly from the CD-ROM.
  16.  
  17. You can get up and running fast by simply changing to your CD-ROM drive,
  18. changing to this directory (\PROGRAM), and running the ALLNIGHT program. For
  19. example, if your CD-ROM is installed on your D: drive, you would use the
  20. following commands:
  21.  
  22.     D:
  23.     CD \PROGRAM
  24.     ALLNIGHT
  25.  
  26. Be sure to press ENTER or RETURN after each line, use spaces
  27. only where shown, and to use the correct "\" key.
  28.  
  29. That's it! -- Enjoy!
  30.  
  31. However, if you want to install it on your hard disk, you can run
  32. the INSTALL batch file.  Do this by running the INSTALL batch file
  33. in the root directory of the CD and using the CD drive name as the
  34. first argument and the drive you want to install to as the second
  35. argument.  For instance, if your CD-ROM drive is D: and you want to
  36. install to your C: drive, you would type:
  37.  
  38.    D:\INSTALL D: C:
  39.  
  40. and press RETURN or ENTER.  From then on, following this example,
  41. you would run the program by going to your C: drive, changing to the
  42. ALLNIGHT directory, and typing ALLNIGHT and pressing RETURN or ENTER.

  44. Installing to your hard drive may speed up the program slightly.
  45.

  48. USING THE PROGRAM:
  49.  
  50. This program is easy to use. You are first asked if you are 18 years 
  51. old or older.  Move the selection rectangle with the arrow keys to 
  52. the appropriate response and press RETURN or ENTER (or press "Y" for 
  53. "Yes" or "N" for "No").  You are then presented with the title
  54. screen which will disappear after several seconds, or you may press
  55. the Escape (ESC) key to shorten the delay.
  56.  
  57. Next you are presented with the main screen which consists of 9 series.
  58. You may press Escape (ESC) to quit the program at this point, or
  59. you may move the red selection rectangle (using the arrow keys) to
  60. the series you want to see and press the ENTER or RETURN key.
  61.  
  62. Upon selecting a series, you will be shown the first thumbnail screen for
  63. the series selected.  Additional thumbnails can be viewed by pressing
  64. the Page Up (PgUp) or Page Down (PgDn) keys.  From this point, you may press
  65. Escape (ESC) to return to the main screen, press the F1 key to view a slide
  66. show of all of the images for the current series, or you may select a single 
  67. picture to view by moving the red selection rectangle to the desired picture 
  68. and pressing RETURN or ENTER.

  70. If you chose the slide show, you will be shown each picture of the series,
  71. one after the other, with a pause between each picture.  You may press 
  72. the space bar during this slide show to skip from a picture to the next 
  73. without waiting for the delay, and you may abort the slide show at any 
  74. time by pressing the Escape (ESC) key.  Once each picture of the set has 
  75. been shown, the program repeat the slide show until the Escape (ESC) key 
  76. is pressed.

  78. If you chose to display a single image (by moving the rectangle and
  79. ENTER or RETURN), then the picture you choose will be displayed full-size.
  80. After the image is displayed, the following key commands are available:
  81.  
  82.       + or =         Zoom-in (magnify view).  The equals (=) key is allowed
  83.                      so that you don't have to press shift to zoom in.
  84.  
  85.       - or _         Zoom-out (shrink view).  The underscore (_) key is
  86.                      allowed so that it will work even if you have the shift
  87.                      key pressed.

  89.       [Up Arrow]     Move (pan) up the image (same scale).
  90.  
  91.       [Down Arrow]   Move (pan) down the image (same scale).
  92.  
  93.       [Left Arrow]   Move (pan) left on the image (same scale).
  94.  
  95.       [Right Arrow]  Move (pan) right on the image (same scale).
  96.  
  97.       [SPACEBAR]     Go back to a full-screen view of the image.  This is
  98.                      the view which the image is first displayed in.
  99.  
  100.       [ESC]          Stop viewing the image and return to the thumbnail
  101.                      screen.
  102.  
  103. Note: To perform the scrolling and panning operations, the program will
  104. try to use a buffer in conventional RAM.  If there is not enough free
  105. conventional RAM, then the image will be reloaded from the CD after
  106. a zoom or pan key is pressed.  This will result in a slower response
  107. time.  To improve your speed, be sure to have as much free RAM as
  108. possible before starting this program.

  112. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
  113.  
  114. To use this program with DOS, you should have a VGA or Super VGA
  115. compatible video card which can display 8-bit color (256 colors).
  116. This program relies on VESA Video BIOS Extension (VBE) Version 1.0 (or
  117. better) support from your video card.  Most cards have this capability
  118. built in and some provide it through a TSR which you must install.
  119.  
  120. If you experience color display problems, Please contact your video board
  121. manufacturer to see if newer TSR software is available.

  125. TECHNICAL SUPPORT
  126.  
  127. The most common problem is the video card does not fully support VESA.
  128. The sub-directory DRIVERS has some drivers for common cards.  If the program
  129. does not display the images correctly, you should run the driver for your
  130. video card before running the program.  If that still does not work, the
  131. driver UNIVBE.EXE should.
